What Items Are Permitted In Your Carry – On Luggage?

Everything you need to know about items in your carry – on luggage

You might have multiple questions about carrying items aboard. For example, can you carry a water bottle aboard a flight? What about your moisturiser or the ever – essential hand wash? Can sanitisers be brought on a flight? we’re answering it all now.

What counts as a carry – on / hand – baggage?

All kinds of bags, suitcases, travel packs, backpacks, etc. count as a carry – on luggage if they do not need to be checked in. You can carry them on board a flight. They also follow the airline rules for dimension and weight allowances.

What is not allowed in your carry – on baggage?

A few items are clearly prohibited in your carry – on baggage. To make it easier for you, we compiled a list of the items that are generally not allowed by all airlines on board a flight. Go ahead, have a look.

  • Razor blades
  • Knives, scissors and nail files that have blades longer than 6 cm
  • Lithium – ion or lithium – metal batteries. And rechargeable batteries with a lithium content of more than 2 g and more than 100 Wh
  • Cordless drills, drill bits and screwdrivers
  • Liquids over 100 ml
  • Guns and weapons
  • Ammunition
  • Toys resembling weapons
  • Alarm – protected briefcases
  • Chemical, flammable, toxic or explosive substances
  • Pyrotechnics
  • Defensive weapons like pepper spray and stun guns
  • Objects that could serve as striking weapons, for example golf clubs
  • Knitting needles
  • Skateboards and ice skates

What is allowed in your carry – on baggage?

Since a lot of items are not allowed in your carry – on baggage, you might ask for items that are allowed. It is much simpler, for sure. Here’s a look at the items you can carry in your carry – on / hand bags.

Liquids under 100 ml

All liquids, aerosols and gels are subject to this limitation. That includes water, beverages, cosmetics, disinfectants, skincare products, etc. They have to be packed in a clear 100 ml bottle in a clear resealable plastic bag. Additionally, you cannot carry liquids with the total amount more than 1 litre. Each passenger is only allowed 1 litre of liquid items.

Medications and medical devices

For medications and medical devices, you need to have a medical certificate proving that the medications cannot be dispensed with. You also need to inform the airline beforehand about the medications if you need them onboard. Here are the medicines and medical devices allowed on the flight.

  • Liquid medication and syringes with a medical certificate
  • Tablets
  • Prostheses
  • Crutches
  • Medical devices, like a ventilator
  • Wheelchair

Cosmetic limitations

Liquid and gel cosmetics follow the rule of liquids under 100 ml. Solid and powder – based cosmetics are excluded from this rule. Cosmetics like creams, ointments and lipsticks, foundation, eyeliner, mascara, etc. follow the 100 ml rule. Aerosols like hairspray, deodorant etc. are not allowed in your carry – on.

Food

Solid food is allowed in limited quantities. Liquid and spreadable foods follow the rule of liquids under 100 ml. It should also be sealed in 1 litre resealable clear plastic bags and Ziploc bags. So, go get cheap flight from Toronto to New Delhi ASAP!

Electronic devices

These are the electronic devices allowed on the flight.

  • Smartphone, tablet or laptop
  • Handheld consoles
  • Navigation devices
  • Cameras
  • Bluetooth speakers
  • Drones
  • Flashlights
  • Electric toothbrushes
  • Hair straightener, curling iron and hairdryer
  • Charging cable
  • Power bank and lithium – ion battery (with restrictions)

Power banks should be a maximum of 100 Wh or 27,000 mAh. You may carry up to 2 power banks per person. Hair dryer may be tested at the security check.

Baby food

Baby milk and baby food are exempt from the 100 ml rule. You can carry it according to your requirements. Hot sterilised water is also available free of charge in the flights. It also doesn’t need to be packed in clear plastic bags. This applies for all small passengers who are 3 years of age and under.
