After Covid-19 Pandemic there were so many rules and regulations for travelers to follow before and after visiting India. But from February 14, 2022, revised travel guidelines will come into effect, which states that travelers arriving in India won’t have to undergo a mandatory seven-day home quarantine or an RT-PCR test on the eighth day. The union health government of India has issued revised guidelines for international travelers arriving in India from 14 February regarding Covid-19 protocols. The government in its latest guidelines has decided that flyers arriving in India will not require to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test on the eighth day of arriving. The government has also relaxed the mandatory seven-day home quarantine.

The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Twitter that a random sampling of 2 percent of international travelers will be done on arrival. After giving their samples, they will be able to leave the airport. 

Earlier, it was mentioned in the guidelines that international travelers with negative reports will further self-monitor their health for the next 7 days. In the latest guidelines, it is also mentioned that the mandatory 72-hour report of RT-PCR is not required anymore and the travelers can show their full vaccination certificate at the airport. In accordance with health protocol, passengers found to be symptomatic after arrival are immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility. A positive result will lead to the identification and management of their contacts in accordance with the stipulated protocol.

  • Only those passengers will be allowed to board on the flight who have filled in all the information on the  Self Declaration Form on the Air Suvidha portal and uploaded the negative RT-PCR test report or Covid -19 vaccination certificate of having completed the primary vaccination schedule.
  • After the thermal screening, only asymptomatic travelers will be allowed to board the flight.
  • All passengers are advised to download the Aarogya Setu app on their mobile devices.

On the arrival:

  • Deboarding of the passengers will be done with proper social distancing. 
  • The self-declaration form filled out online shall be shown to the airport health staff at arrival.
  • Thermal screening would be carried out in respect of all the passengers by the health officials present at the airport. 
  • All travelers will self-monitor their health for the next 14 days of arrival.
  • If travelers under self-health monitoring, develop signs and symptoms suggestive of COVID19, they will immediately self-isolate and report to their nearest health facility or call the National helpline number (1075).
