Tips to prevent motion sickness during your flight to India

Traveling is a big mood off for people who suffer motion sickness. One may be fond of exploring different places, but traveling to that place eventually turns out to be a bad idea if the person has motion sickness issues.

It is different to experience motion sickness in other modes of travel, such as train, car, etc. since they contain open passages for the fresh air to enter, but traveling in a plane can be much more difficult due to ventilation problems.

It can be infuriating to travel with motion sickness, but a few tricks can help to lower the effects of this sickness.

Here are the steps to conquer motion sickness, or to reduce it to some extent:

1) Pick appropriate seat while booking

The good news here is that the first class is not the only place for choosing the right seat. So you don’t have to spend a lot of money to feel good and you can book cheap tickets to India without facing any struggle.

Choose a place where you don’t feel much turbulence and a place that would be above the wings.

The seat should also be away from the front wheel of the plane, as motion sickness can worsen while the plane lands. With that said, rows 10 to 30 are appropriate for people with motion sickness.

Choosing a seat with a window also helps to a great extent since it allows the view of the horizon, which helps to lessen the sickness. Also, try to choose a seat that contains an air vent right above it.

2) Exercising a few days prior to flight

There is no such physical exercise but a few trials to reduce the fear of flight. However, one can travel in a car a few days prior to their flight, to balance the mixed sensations of the brain.

Traveling in an elevator also helps to create an experience of motion sickness and repeating it a few times can help to balance the sensations.

Often times, motion sickness is related to fear of traveling or experiencing bumpy rides, therefore, talking with yourself can also help to reduce its effect.

3) Wear loose and comfy clothes

Now, it does not play any crucial role, but does help to relax somewhat. While traveling, it is better to wear clothes that are loose, comfortable, and are airy.

Motion sickness tends to make the person feel suffocated sometimes, so choosing a loose pair of clothing helps to keep the circulation flowing.

4) Control your diet

A night before your flight; try to eat food that is not too heavy for you. Eat food that is less spicy and salty and food that contains the minimum to no amount of carbohydrates.

Eating food containing fat can worsen your sickness; therefore, try to avoid such food and drinks at any cost. Also, try to prevent drinks and food that contain strong flavors.

5) Avoid concentrating

Activities that require any amount of concentration are the potential of worsening your condition.

Activities such as reading, playing games on electronic devices, or any type of use of an electronic device that requires your concentration can trigger or increase the sickness.

All these activities are quite the opposite of looking over the horizon and imbalances the senses.

6) Refreshing drinks and foods

It is helpful to take some refreshing drink or some light food before traveling. Drinks that contain mint, or ginger (ginger ale), can help to reduce motion sickness. You can also keep some mint and take it at short intervals. Try to keep yourself hydrated.

Try to drink some chamomile tea as it has a refreshing taste and contains some therapeutic properties.

7) Get some air

Turn your personal fan towards your face and get some air. Try to keep yourself cool by keeping a direct airflow. This will help to decrease nausea that is common in motion sickness.

It is also helpful to lie down, and maybe sleep for some time. A number of people with motion sickness report that sleeping while traveling helps them to feel better.

8) Acupressure Bands

Acupressure band is a very effective method of reducing motion sickness. As the name suggests, they tend to press some particular points that help to lower the effects of motion sickness and make the person feel better.

Children over the age of 3 are also allowed to use these bands. This band may take 2-3 minutes to show its effect.

These were a few pointers to help you cope up with your motion sickness. You can also visit a doctor if you want to look for some medicinal option for this issue.

The plane travels can be difficult for those suffering from motion sickness and hence the travel becomes a challenge. However, a small step could be to book your seats wisely that you could to easily online and can book cheap flights to India.
