Visitors can soon engross themselves in stargazing activities near the site area of Ajanta caves.

The chairman of the MTDC said that the project would be set up and operated in a faraway location in the dense jungles called Ajanta point away from any light source and provides 360 degrees over the Ajanta caves. Ajanta cave point is the point on top of the hill from where the caves were accidentally discovered in 1819 by one British officer on a hunting trip.

The park has already many amenities for visitors to enjoy, said one of the officials. The new project is also based on the theme of engaging local community and imparting to them the necessary skills like holding the telescope and focusing on deep sky objects and a basic understanding of the night sky so that they can discharge the necessary services for the tourists.

Moreover, the project would be seasonal and runs in winter as the dark fringes of the night sky over the hill offers a clear sky view to see deep space objects. The stargazing program will begin each day in the late evening and will run for 2-3 hours so catch your last minute flights now and be a testimony to not only the caves but also the amazing Indian skies.

The official also said the basic infrastructure was being put up, and the local people are being selected to be engaged in the project.
