According to Homeland Security, “The Redress Control Number (redress number) is a unique seven-digit identifier issued by the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Secure Flight program to match travelers with the results of their redress case through the DHS TRIP program.”

In simpler terms, it is a 7 digit ID used by the passengers to get resolution for travel security screening inconveniences. Through the redress number, the TSA eliminates misidentification in the watch list and verifies the traveler’s identity.
