The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) is famous and also known as the Hyderabad International Airport. This airport is operated by a public-private venture called the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. It was established in 2008 and it is named after the former Prime Minister of India, i.e. Rajiv Gandhi.

Moreover, the airport has MRO facilities and a solar power plant. With the increase in the number of flights to Hyderabad, this airport is considered as one of the busiest airports in India by passenger traffic. It is a hub for the airlines including Lufthansa Cargo, Blue Dart Aviation, Air India Regional, and SpiceJet.

Terminals

Passenger Terminal

There is only one passenger terminal which covers around 105,300 square feet. Near about 12 million passengers are supported by it annually. For handling international flights, this terminal’s western side is used and the eastern side is used for domestic operations. So, one can easily get domestic and international Hyderabad flights.

Moreover, there are 96 check-in desks with around 19 kiosks and 46 immigration counters. Airport comprises of 9 gates. 7 of them are on terminal’s south side and remaining 2 on the north.

Cargo Terminal

Located at the west of the passenger terminal, the cargo terminal covers about 14,330 square meters. This terminal handles near about 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually. The temperature-controlled Pharmaceutical Zone is also available at this terminal.

Bus: One can use a luxury express bus i.e the TSRTC’s Pushpak Airport Liner for going to their destinations. Lone distance state-owned buses are available at the bus stop area of the airport.

Car Rentals: There are majorly 2 car rental agencies namely One Car Rental and Carzonrent. You can get chauffeured car services from them.

Taxi: The licensed, air-conditioned, and metered taxis are provided by Sky Cabs and Meru.

I must say that I had hassle-free experience while check-ins, security check. I enjoyed the lively ambiance of this airport and this is one of my favorite airports in India.
