The country is bursting with an array of bizarre experiences that would have the seasoned daredevils be thinking about twice.

Apart from the usual Taj Mahal, buy your cheap air tickets from Canada to India because there are some weird experiences you have to try when you visit India. Being the best flight booking site in India, we assure you of getting the best airline ticket deals.

Read on to find out where your next destination might be in India.

1) Jal Mahal

Located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, the palace has been abandoned for ages.

Believed to have been built for the royal family of Rajasthan as a summer retreat, the palace has 5 storeys, with 4 of them being submerged in the lake.

How it came to be located there or be submerged still remains a mystery. If you’re interested in seeing this up close, get a boat ride and view the submerged palace personally.

2) Karni Mata Temple

The temple is in Deshnoke, Rajasthan where rats are worshipped. The temple is filled with more than 20,000 rats that eat and drink the offerings and milk offered to the goddess by the devotees.

People from all over the world come and witness the live action and offer sweets to the rats. It is considered a sin to step on a rat, hurt it or kill it, even by accident.

If you happen to do so, you will have to buy a silver of gold rat statue and offer it to the temple as atonement for your sins.

The devotees believe that the rats are manifesting the temple as an incarnation of the Hindu goddess Karni Mata and they eat the offerings only after the rats have tasted it.

3) Shani Shingnapur

Shani Shingnapur is a village in Maharashtra which is famed for not having doors in any of the houses here.

The locals worship God Shani and believe that he will protect them from any evils.

There are no cases of theft here either, because no matter the people following any religion, every single person in the village fears and prays to God Shani and follow the 350 years old tradition of not having any doors in the house.

4) Channapatna Dog Temple

The temple is located Agrahara Valagerehalli in Channapatna, Karnataka and is renowned for worshipping a man’s best friend, dogs.

The legend states that a wealthy businessman built the Kempamma Temple for the Goddess Kempamma in 2010.

However one day, 2 dogs suddenly disappeared from the village. The Goddess appeared in a villager’s dream and told him to build a temple dedicated to the dogs.

They would be the ones to protect the village from any evil and ill omens and drive away negativity.

After this, the dog temple was built by the same businessman and they hold a yearly festival to honor them.

5) Bullet Baba

This is one of the strangest places to visit in India. The Bullet Baba in Rajasthan has left everyone speechless with the occurrences.

The bike belonged to Om Banna who died in an accident in the same spot.

Then on, there were numerous times that the police tried to remove and relocate the bike elsewhere, but it would always miraculously land in the same place every time.

Since then, people built a shrine around the bike, encasing it. Visitors and locals passing by the route, pray here at the shrine for protection from accidents.

6) Snake Village

While snakes are worshipped in the Hindu community because of its close relationship with Lord Shiva, the logical people would think how close can you really keep a snake?

Located in the Sholapur district of Uttar Pradesh, people in Shetpal village welcome snakes into their homes.

They have small shrines in their homes, dedicated to snakes and for them to enter and cool off.

The snakes aren’t just ordinary snakes, but cobras. The villagers even let their kids play freely with the cobras and till date, there hasn’t been a single issue of any of them being bitten or dying by a snake.

The snakes aren’t hurt or killed here either and both humans and snakes live together fearlessly in this area.
