Open skies agreement between govt to boost Canada to India flights

India is gearing up for a G-20 presidency and summit this year. Many memorandums and agreements are in the pipeline considering the summit this year. Many diplomatic meets are doing the corners and many countries have shown their will to negotiate deeper ties with India.

On Monday, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau also announced one such agreement for deeper cooperation and ties with India. The agreement is an open-sky agreement between Canada and India that will allow air carriers of both countries to operate unlimited flights between the two countries. The agreement will surely boost Canada to India flights.

It will enhance the airfare architecture as well, so it has made it even more important to keep a tab on the best deals on flight tickets every time for good savings.

Ahead of the G-20 summit, speaking at the business 20 meet, Trudeau stated the need for faster and easier movement of goods and people between the two countries and to facilitate mutual trade and investment

Unlimited Canada to India flights

Mr. Trudeau said, today we are announcing an unlimited number of flights between India and Canada. The step has been taken to help grow and succeed business and PTP base between the countries. The agreement also helps in the movement of goods and people a little faster and easier and also boosts up the trade and investments between India and Canada.

The last time the agreement was expanded between the countries was in 2011. While the first air transport agreement between India and Canada was signed way back in 1982.

Canada has a blue sky policy and the open sky agreement is a result of that. The blue sky policy of the country promotes long-term, sustainable competition and the growth of international air services. The one major drawback of the previous agreement was that it restricted the number of weekly flights to 35 only between the countries. The new agreement truly boosts the number of Canada to India flights in an efficient manner.

This new agreement gives Canadian air carriers easy access to Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata. And, to the Indian carriers, it gives access to Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton. However, the agreement also gives the authority to Indian carriers to choose two additional airports of their choice.
