India May Allow Regular International Flights from the Mid of March

According to Government sources, India may resume regular international flights from March 15. Standard operating procedures will be effective for arrivals and departures of foreign flights.

General Public is relieved with this news as now the complications while traveling, will slowly fade away, and the ticket fare will be back at cheap and affordable rates. Indian Citizens residing in Canada hope to get cheap flight tickets to India from Canada again.

According to a government source(who would like to keep his identity unrevealed), India may resume regular International flights from March 15. The guidelines released on February 14 will remain effective for these flights.

Earlier in November 2021,  the Aviation Ministry of India decided to resume International flights to resume regularly from 15 December 2021, but the sudden rise in Omnicron cases made them take back their decision.

The ban on International Flights was imposed on March 23, 2020, when the covid pandemic rose in India. This ban is likely to remain in effect till February 28. India and about 40 others started special passenger flights with air bubble agreements. Air bubble agreements are temporary agreements between two countries with the sole purpose of recommencing passenger service again. They were started with special safety guidelines when international flights were suspended. 

Since Covid cases are now declining at a reassuring rate. The Civil Aviation Ministry of India has almost decided to resume International flights after consulting with the Health ministry. Health Ministry has also approved the same. But there are no official announcements as of now.

With the revised guidelines released on February 14, the Health Ministry of India has put an end to 7 day home quarantine for passengers arriving from foreign countries. There is also no need for an RT-PCR Test on the 8th day of arrival. 

Currently, there is a choice between providing a 72 hours RT-PCR test before the flight. Or you can upload certificates of the completion of both vaccinations. These guidelines are put into effect on a reciprocal basis with other 82 countries. 

Looks like the Indian Government wants us to start planning for an international holiday from this summer. When international flights get resumed like it was before pre-covid times.
