Exceptionally Unique Historical Places in India

Qila Mubarak @Bhatinda

Not to be confused with that in Patiala, Qila Mubarak a historical place was built in the 90 to 110 AD by Raja Dab, and is the oldest fort to have survived in India. Emperor Kanishka’s kingdom prevented the Huns from invading by constructing it using mud bricks in such a layout.

This fort also holds national importance and is still standing tough after 1900 years of its construction. The prime event that occurred here was the enslavement of the first and only woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, Razia Sultan, who lost the throne to Turkish nobility after a conspiracy to overthrow her became successful.

Maluti Temples @Jharkhand

The GHF considers the Maluti Temples in the village near Shikaripara, with their huge collection of 72 terracotta temples, to be one of the 12 vanishing cultural heritage sites of the world. Originating from pre- historic times, Maluti Temples depict the story of Ramayan and Mahabharat uniquely on its walls.

King Basanta, a religious person who preferred building temples over palaces, constructed it. Interestingly, his clan also shared an interest in temple construction. As a result, they divided into 4 sub-categories and competed in building, resulting in the construction of about 108 temples.

Rakhigarhi @Haryana

It is one of the oldest and largest Harappan excavation sites in the world, excavated by Shri Amarendra Nath of the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). When you want to visit it, book a Toronto to Del flight with Tripbeam and take a joy ride to Haryana so you can visit this place easily.

Kalinjar Fort has an ancient Shiva temple with a shivling that has a natural source of water dripping over it. Then is the Sita Sej, which is a tiny cave with a bed and pillow prepared of rocks. Saints used it in the olden days.

Bidar Fort @Karnataka

The Bidar Fort is a Bahmani tribute set in the Deccan plateau. Constructed by Sultan Alla ud din Bahman with red laterite stone, it features a Persian style architecture with more than 30 structures in it- ranging from moats, bastions, fortifications, palaces and museums. The fort also showcases a historic water supply system that is a Persian water harnessing technology known as Karez.
