According to our research, the least powerful passports belong to Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia. We determined this by the number of countries that allow entry without requiring a visa for their passport holders. These passports only provide visa on arrival or visa free access to less than 40 countries. That signifies the major restrictions their passport holders face regularly during traveling to other countries.

The country whose citizens are the weakest passport holders is Afghanistan. It provides access to only 26 countries visa free. Hence, it is the 5th country to rank in the list of least powerful passports in the world in 2024. The only countries offering visa free access to Yemeni citizens are usually located nearby along with a few more.
Somalia deals with weak governing power, civil unrest and terrorism, which makes the citizens struggle to visit abroad. This is why Somalia citizens can only visit a limited number of Asian and African countries. This is why international travel is a major challenge for Somalis.
