All Recent Updates on International Traveling in India

The last two years were full of drastic changes in Government regulations regarding cross-border flights and international traveling. Hodophiles around the globe have suffered a lot staying in one place and are finally able to go on an international trip. Let’s look at all the significant updates that have recently influenced international traveling. These updates also significantly impact flights tickets to India from Canada.

Ban on International Flights

The Indian Government banned the operations of international flights on March 23, 2020, when the COVID Pandemic started spreading all over the world. Since then, only a few flights have been operating under the Air bubble flight agreement. Under this agreement, only selected flights were allowed to fly between two countries with massive restrictions and precise guidelines. India had signed an Air bubble flight agreement with 32 countries, including America, Canada, France, UAE, and the UK. The flights under this agreement were extremely costly since the demand was still high, and the supply of flight tickets was minimal.

India was planning to lift the ban on international flights in December 2021, but the sudden rise in Omicron Variant influenced the Government to postpone its decision.

On February 14, 2022, revised guidelines from the Indian Health ministry made traveling easier to some extent. In the revised guidelines, the Government has terminated the need for a 7-days home quarantine upon arrival and the need for an RT-PCR test on the 8th day.

Finally, The situation under COVID seems to be under control now, and the vaccination drive is going on rapidly. India has resumed international flights to start regularly operating from March 27, 2022. The Air bubble flight agreement has ended along with this decision, and flights can fly internationally like in the pre-COVID times.

Increase in Flights

The Air bubble agreement is out of the picture, and many countries are opening their borders for regular international traveling. With this, many airlines have increased their flight operations for international traveling.

In India, Indigo airlines plan to add 100 more flights for everyday international traveling. Singapore Airlines is adding 17% more international flights to operate in India. Swiss Air and Lufthansa Airlines are ready to double their operation for international traveling.

Tata Sons have recently acquired Air India back from the Indian Government. They plan to upgrade Air India based on technology and elite hospitality services. Air India will add many more destinations and travel routes.

Since the flight seats are increasing and supply is coming back on track, the sky-high flight fares are expected to fall by above 40% soon.

Growth in Traveling Industry

The worldwide tourism and traveling industry are looking forward to blooming this summer and making up for the past two years. The covid situation is not as worse as before, and the regular flights are recommencing. So travel lovers around the globe have started booking airline tickets and cheap international holiday packages to vibrant cities of India this summer with extended stays. This year the tourism industry expects to earn revenue even more than the pre-covid times.
