Etihad Airways

This one tops the list for the airline and provides the most number of avenues for placing a bid for upgradation. It doesn’t matter what your destination is or how long the flight is you will be eligible for placing a bid for seat upgradation to premium class. But the only caveat is you must not have used promotions, free tickets, guest seat rewards, redemption tickets, flier miles, etc while booking the ticket. The airline lets you upgrade only one class for example if you have booked economy then you are eligible for business class and if you have booked business class then you are eligible for first class. If you have a booking of business travel flights to India then you can place a bid for upgrading it to first class. One more thing is that by an upgradation to a higher class you may enjoy the inflight facilities and amenities but you will not be provided chauffeur service from the airlines.

Singapore Airlines

You are eligible for bids for upgradation in cash or kris flyer miles via mySQupgrade by Singapore airlines. You will also have the opportunity to make amends to your bid for up to 50 hours before your scheduled departure. And if your bid is rendered successful then a notification is sent 40 hours before your flight. You can only upgrade to the business if you are flying economy but you can’t upgrade to the Singapore suite if you are even flying business.

Lufthansa

Lufthansa lets you upgrade from economy to premium economy only and not business or first class. And bids for upgradation are only available on select long-haul flights. Check if you are eligible and then you can visit the ‘my offer’ section of the Lufthansa website and place a bid. If your bid is successful then you will receive a confirmation 12-25 hours before the scheduled departure of your flight.

Cathay Pacific

Cathay pacific also offers upgradation one class up but only on select routes. So if you are in economy class you can bid for business class and if you are in business you can try your luck for first class.

Air India

India’s own air carrier, maharaja also offers the chance to passengers to place bids for upgradation. Just enter your PNR number on their website and check whether you are eligible for upgradation or not. The airlines also offer a chance to modify or cancel your bid for up to 60 hours before your flight. If your bidding is successful then you will receive a confirmation mail at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure. If you have a booking of Canada to India flights on economy class then you can place a bid for upgradation to business class.
