Air Italy Announced with Multiple Flights to Chicago and Toronto

According to the official announcement by Air Italy, two new North American destinations for 2019. The flights will be active from May 2019 and the carrier will serve flights from Toronto and Chicago with multiple flights per week. After a month after the airliner starts its service to California, then both Chicago and Toronto will eventually begin.

In amidst the protests from the US network airlines, the latest route announcement was made. The airlines are not happy at all with the relation between 49% owner Qatar Airways, and Air Italy.

And Qatar Airways have been accused by Delta, American, and United airlines of using Air Italy to indirectly fly service to the USA from Doha. Moreover, the legacy carriers are dissatisfied and have claimed that the airline is disrespected the President.

Partnership for Open and Fair Skies released the statement- With the new routes announced from Air Italy to the United States is actually fueled by Qatar Airways.

President and the Secretary of State Pompeo by govt of Qatar have been demonstrated a stunning lack of respect. In continuation, they said that the government of Qatar as promised did not launch the 5th freedom flights to the US, and exploiting the investment they were ditching the pledge.

Details of the new route

Milan and Chicago flights from Air Italy will be fully operational on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Airbus A330-200s will be the operator and the route will launch on 14th May 2019.

Talking about the schedule- IG913 departing Milan 1310, arriving Chicago 1625, and IG914 departing Chicago 1825, arriving Milan 1035 plus one day.

The flight will take approximately 10 hours and 15 minutes westbound, and 9 hours and 10 minutes eastbound. Its route is going to be popular with travelers because the launch of this of this service will make Air Italy the only airline to fly nonstop between Chicago and Milan.

Air Italy will also be operational for Milan to Toronto route 4 times a week i.e. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Again A330-200s will serve the route and the schedule looks as this IG923 departing Milan 1355, arriving Toronto 1715, and IG924 departing Toronto 1945, arriving Milan 1010. In addition to this, the overall trip will take approximately 9 hours 20 minutes westbound and 8 hours 25 minutes eastbound.

Will Air Italy use their new 787s for North American routes?

Over the next couple of years, Air Italy will be going to increase the fleet of 50 aircraft which will include- 5 brand new A330s, 30 787s, 20 new 737 MAX 8s respectively. It is also true that delivery dates are still unconfirmed, but Qatar airlines have given the indication that they will begin to enter the 787s into service in either 2019 or 2020.
