Air Canada to resume flights to the City of Dreams – Mumbai

  • Back in Mumbai

Air Canada has resumed its daily seasonal service between Mumbai and Toronto with the best travel deals online, which are now routed through London Heathrow until March 23, 2023. This is the airline’s third flight from India, joining existing flights from Delhi to Toronto and Montreal.

Customers, guests, Air Canada employees, and crew joined the Consul General of Canada in Mumbai, Diedrah Kelly, the Quebec Government Office in Mumbai, Francis Paradis, the Ontario Government Representative in India, Digvijay Mehra, the Consul, and Senior Trade Commissioner, Keith Kan, the Air Canada General Manager India, Arun Pandeya, and the Air Canada Airport Operations Manager India and the Middle East, Madhusudan Nair for a special gate ceremony marking the departure of Air Canada flight AC855.

“We are thrilled to resume our daily seasonal service between Mumbai and Toronto via London Heathrow,” said Arun Pandeya, General Manager India for Air Canada. “Our Indian customers choosing cheap International holiday packages will have more options for travel, with access to our Toronto hub via London Heathrow, allowing for convenient one-stop connections to destinations throughout Canada, including Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. Air Canada’s Mumbai flights also conveniently connect at London Heathrow to flights operated by our Star Alliance partner United Airlines throughout the United States, including Denver, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, Washington, and Boston.”

“I am delighted to witness the launch of direct Air Canada flights from Toronto to Mumbai (via Heathrow). Traveling between Canada and India has just become easier with daily flights between the largest cities in Canada and India. This new service complements the existing Air Canada flights from Delhi to Toronto and Montreal, giving travelers choosing the best travel deals online more options and strengthening Canada-India bilateral ties.”

  • Entering a new market

Air Canada used to fly between London and Mumbai as part of a larger route 31 years ago. The airline is now running flights between the two locations.

What’s excellent for Air Canada is that it will be able to service three markets at the same time:

  1. Toronto-London Heathrow (increased frequency with the launch of this route)
  2. London Heathrow-Mumbai (tapping into a rather new market)
  3. Toronto-Mumbai via flights from Canada to Mumbai

The inauguration of this route is fantastic for travelers traveling between Mumbai and London Heathrow with cheap International holiday packages, as they will be able to fly on Air Canada and enjoy Canadian hospitality without having to travel to Canada.

Prior to the epidemic, when the airline last serviced Mumbai in 2020, it operated nonstop flights between Toronto and Mumbai. However, because Russian airspace is prohibited to so many airlines throughout the world, including Air Canada, it had to include a fuel stop someplace because nonstop flights were not possible owing to different difficulties. The airline picked London Heathrow for this, and it is fortunate that it has secured fifth-freedom rights for the London-Mumbai section, allowing it to enter a new market. It remains to be seen if Air Canada will continue with this one-stop route or switch to a nonstop flight once Russian airspace is opened.

The trip is the airline’s third from India, joining current services from Delhi to Toronto and Montreal. The flight service for cheap flights to India from Canada via London-Heathrow will be flown by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which will offer three cabins of service to clients, including lie-flat seats in Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class.

  • The London Heathrow-Mumbai market gets competitive

This winter, the London Heathrow-Mumbai route will now feature up to seven flights each day. Four airlines will compete with one another. Here is the airline breakdown:

  • British Airways – 2 flights each day, growing to 3 flights per day beginning in mid-December 2022.
  • Virgin Atlantic: daily flight
  • Air India operates up to two flights every day (currently operating 12 flights a week)
  • Air Canada: daily flight
  • India’s expanding schedule

Air Canada is operating 17 flights per week to India with the best travel deals online this winter. Among these are:

  • Daily flight from YYZ to BOM (with a stopover at London Heathrow).
  • Toronto-Delhi: daily flight
  • Montreal-Delhi: 3 weekly flights

Because of Russian airspace restrictions, Air Canada’s Vancouver-Delhi route remains suspended.

The service between Mumbai and ‘Toronto via London-Heathrow will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which will offer three cabin options for customers, including lie-flat seats in Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class are all options.
