Air Canada flight AC535 that was traveling from Vancouver to Hawaii turned midway on Christmas Eve. The Air Canada flight was going through the route on Monday morning to Maui and returned to its destination when it was about halfway.
The Director of Media Relations said that a Boeing 737 has more than 160 passengers on board turned midway to Vancouver. It all happened due to a hydraulic indication that prompted the return along with the maintenance issues.
We have been arranging another aircraft to transfer the passengers and get them on their way as soon as possible. Only the maintenance decision was the sole reason to return midway to Vancouver only due to a hydraulic indication and was not an emergency.
Adding to the conversation further, the Director said that all the passengers were offered free meals, buffet snacks both during and before the departure of the flight, including the discounts for future travel.
The delay was more than 10 hours in flights from Canada and according to the news, all the passengers were disgruntled at the delay. Some of them also expressed the displeasure “how on Christmas Eve, we had to turn back and waste our entire day.”
The Founder of Air Passenger Rights said that the passengers on board their flights ticket booking from Canada could receive compensation in thousands of dollars if the losses could be proved.
Under the country’s Carriage by Air Act, they are liable for up to $8,700, only if they are able to prove lost money for travel or rental alterations.
